FIFA World Cup 2018: Croatia Beat England, ‘We Left Everything Out There’ Said England Manager, Gareth Southgate
Croatia Beat England by 2-1 and will meet France in the FIFA World cup final. England Manager, Gareth Southgate said, “We Left everything out there” but we will learn from that.
England’s dream of reaching into the final after 1966 came to an end when they got defeated in the extra time.
Southgate said, “It’s impossible for me to say anything to the players to make them feel better at this moment.” He also added that, “I am conscious we have just lost a massive game and I don’t want to be seen to be moving on too quickly. We shouldn’t overlook the opportunity we had and, at the moment, we all feel the pain of the defeat. Did we feel we would be in this position? Realistically, I don’t think any of us did. Go back 18 months and no one would have expected us to be in a semi final.
“We have to be proud of what we have achieved. I don’t think anyone could have given anymore.
“players had run out of steam nut that’s partly their age. They are still physically maturing. Croatia have hardened warriors whose understanding of big matches at time came to the fore.
“It’s hard to put that into context now, and a bit too soon. You have to suffer the result a little bit. It’s too easy sometimes to move on quickly. But I am hugely proud of what they have done. They have broken through a number of barriers over the last few weeks.
“I think now is the time for us to be strong as a group and take the time to reflect on the performance a little bit over the next couple of days.”
