Government Extended The Income Tax Return filing Due Date By a Month To August 31

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) took decision to extend the due date of Income Tax Return filing to August 31 for the taxpayer who were liable for filing return by July 31.

 

Individual who failed to file Income tax return, will face penalty of Rs 5,000 on filing before December 31. Post December 31, the penalty will be Rs 10,000.

The Finance Ministry said, “The due date for filing of Income Tax returns for assessment year 2018-19 is 31.07.2018 for certain categories of tax payers. Upon consideration of the matter, the central board of direct taxes (CBDT) extends the due date for filing of Income tax returns from 31st July, 2018 to 31st August, 2018 in respect of the said categories of taxpayer.”
