Maharashtra Bandh Today; Maratha Wants Reservation in Jobs and education.
Protest is being continued by Maratha community from different locations of Maharashtra. Maharashtra Bandh took place due to suicide attempt made by three agitators of Maharashtra over their demand for reservation in Jobs and education.
Appeal from Maratha group to their community to have bandh in a peaceful manner.
Buses and local train in Mumbai including its adjoining cities faced challenges today, Wednesday. The vehicles moving toward Mumbai from Nitin Flyover were seen jammed.
Thrown stones on some buses in Bhandup and Kanjurmarg area. Blocked a road in Mankhurd suburb but police managed to stop protestors. Schools and Colleges were closed in Kolhapur and Aurangabad.
The Police in Aurangabad caned and lobbed tear gas shells on protester. Aurangabad SP, Arti Singh said, “The situation in Aurangabad is under control. The Police are alert to avert any unwanted incident.”
In the afternoon, protestors were found violent at Kalamboli, Navi Mumbai and blocked Mumbai-Pune Express way.
Railway authority announced Harbour services from Thane to Vashi have been stopped.
Internet services have been stopped in Navi Mumbai to refrain people from false messages during Bandh.
Lawyer and supporter of Maratha Kranti Morcha, Satish Maneshinde said, “As a supporter of their cause and a member of Maratha Kranti Morcha. I will appear pro bono for every such Maratha before any court in Maharashtra.”
“We will continue our agitation until the CM apologises to the Maratha community(for alleging that member of Maratha community had planned to have violence at Pandharpur) Said, Maratha Kranti Morcha Coordinator, Ravindra Patil.
Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis called for an emergency high level meeting on Tuesday to check the progress made by the Maharashtra State Backward Class Commission on this issue.
In a schedule government jobs recruitment of 72,000, Fadnavis has promised to keep 16 percent jobs position to be reserved for Maharashtrian. “There would be no injustice meted out to the Maratha Community.”
